QuickBooks Premier 2014, the version of the product which is reviewed here.  This on-premises product has customizations for a number of industries, and allows up to five simultaneous users.  This version of the product is also sold on a monthly subscription and maintenance plan called QuickBooks Premier Plus.

I am sure you learning about the new features in various versions of Quickbooks 2014, as well as a major overhaul of Quickbooks Offine.  I’m actually most excited about the new Quickbooks Offine, which is being the current version is referred to as “Classic”. However, since new Quickbooks Offline accounts will have a 1 in 4 chance of getting the  “Classic” version is purposefully rolling it out slowly) and I have no idea when current users will get the new version, I will concentrate on what’s new with Quickbooks Desktop versions for 2014.

In a bow to Quickbooks Offline, Quickbooks Premier 2014 now has added an Income Tracker to the Customer Center, for a quick visual of where you stand with your Accounts Receivable.

• Overdue Invoices
• Recent Payments

In addition, you can easily filter by Customer, Transaction Type, Paid Status and Date by using the filter buttons.

Some of the other new features in Quickbooks Premier 2014.

I know many Accountants will be happy with some of the features added to Quickbooks for Accountants for 2014. In particular, the ability to enter bulk transactions for invoices, credit memos, bills & bill credits (we previously could enter checks, ). Another feature added to the Client Data Review (that only an accountant can really appreciate) is the ability to reclassify the source account for bulk transactions.

What You Need on Your Computer to Run Quickbooks 2014

The following are the minimum system requirements for using Quickbooks 2014 on your computer:

·                     Windows 8, all editions including 64-bit, natively installed

·                     Windows 7, all editions including 64-bit, natively installed

·                   Windows Vista (SP1 or later), all editions including 64-bit, natively installed

·                     Windows XP* (SP3 only), all editions including 64-bit, natively installed

Note: Microsoft will be ending support for the Windows XP Operating System. Intuit will support Windows XP until the offical end of support date.

·       Windows Server 2012, Windows Small Business Server 2011, Small Business Server 2008

·            Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2003 (SP2), including 64-bit, natively installed

Database Servers:

Windows: natively installed & Windows 8, Windows 7 or Vista (SP1) with UAC on, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 – Terminal Server Config., Windows Server 2003 (SP2), and Windows Small Business Server 2008

Note: Windows Home Server Edition is not supported.

Hardware Requirements

·                     2.0 GHz processor; 2.4 GHz recommended

·                     1 GB RAM for single user, 2 GB RAM recommended for multiple users (2 GB RAM required for Windows 8 64 bit)

·                     4x CD-ROM drive required for CD installations

·                     Display optimized for 1024 x 768 screen resolution or higher with up to 2 Extended monitors

·                     Only Default DPI setting is supported (96dpi/100%)

·                     2.5 GB of disk space (additional space required for data files)

·                     Additional software: 250 MB for Microsoft .NET 4.0 Runtime, provided on the QuickBooks CD

·                     Additional requirements for Intuit Data Protect in QuickBooks Connected Services offerings

·                     Require minimum 2.0 GB Ram
